Tom Wood Volkswagen, Tom Wood Subaru and Tom Wood Best Used Cars are stepping up to support the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. This is the newest event to help raise money in the fight against breast cancer and is sweeping the country in 15 different cities. The 3-day 60-mile walk event is scheduled to hit Chicago on August 6th-8th, and all participants are required to raise a minimum of $2,300 to enter the event.

During the month of July, for every car sold at Tom Wood Volkswagen and Tom Wood Subaru we will donate $25 to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure fundraiser. This is in honor one of our very own Tom Wood family members, Carol Travelstead, Office Manager at Tom Wood Volkswagen & Subaru, who was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Cell Carcinoma, a type of Breast Cancer, on Christmas Eve 2009.

The shock of Carol's devastating diagnosis affected all of us at the Tom Wood organization, and lingered over the next few months as Carol bravely underwent surgery this January and radiation in February. Although her life was turned upside down by this cancer, Carol felt very fortunate when she found out that she can replace the horrible process of chemotherapy with another surgery; An option that sadly wasn't available even just a few years ago due to the lack of research.

Carol is now a cancer survivor and is dedicated to supporting this extraordinary cause with all of us at the Tom Wood Automotive group. We are proud to be donating to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, an incredible organization that has made such an impact in breast cancer research and support for those affected by this disease.
