All 2016 Subaru models, equipped with the optional EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, met tougher criteria to earn the 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK award and the 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The rigorous testing by IIHS encourages manufacturers to continue building safer vehicles, and winners include the 2016 models of the Subaru Crosstrek, Subaru Forester, Subaru Impreza, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, and Subaru WRX when equipped with optional EyeSight®. Two cameras are mounted by the rearview mirror to monitor traffic and react to conditions even before you do. Basically, EyeSight® sees the problems and initiates action to help avoid the trouble. Eyesight® will also sound an alert and flash a visual warning if there's danger of a collision and will apply the brakes automatically if you don't. It can also optimize cruise control and warn drivers when they're straying outside their lane.

To win a 2016 Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must have a "Good" rating in all five tests of high-speed front and side crash tests, a rollover test, and evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts as well as a "Basic" rating for front crash prevention. The same level of performance in those tests, along with an "Advanced" or "Superior" rating for front crash prevention, is required for the higher accolade, 2016 Top Safety Pick+. These awards represent the Subaru brand’s commitment to providing the highest level of safety standards to our customers.

Sales in 2015 were driven mainly by the Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback and Subaru Crosstrek lines. The brand’s sedans like the Subaru Legacy, Subaru Impreza, and Subaru WRX, have also seen significant year-to-date increases. Tom Wood Subaru is pleased to offer our customers all six winners of the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK + Awards.
