  • LEED Certification

As part of our LEED certification, we work with the Energy Star Portfolio Manager, keeping track of all of our energy and water usage:  Did you know that many buildings, manufacturing plants and design projects can earn ENERGY STAR certification just like your refrigerator? An ENERGY STAR certified property meets strict energy performance standards set by the EPA and uses less energy, is less expensive to operate, and causes fewer greenhouse gas emissions than its peers.

  • Going Green Guide

AC Online's Guide to Sustainable, Eco-Friendly College Campuses

Going green has never mattered as much as it does today. From smog hovering over our biggest cities to icecaps melting at an alarming rate, it might seem like anything we do is simply a drop in an impossibly big bucket. But if everyone contributes, change happens. Colleges and universities around the nation have recognized the need for going green as a way to make the world a better place, both today and tomorrow - and they are going about it in grand style. Those who care about the environment can look to these colleges as shining examples of what can happen when a student community comes together for the greater good.

  • Going Green Guide

A Guide to Sustainability in College and in Life

In the past 10 years, college campuses have focused their efforts to confront the challenges of climate change, energy consumption, natural resource depletion, and environmental crises. Colleges and universities have become testing grounds for new approaches to living, for new ideas about how we utilize the natural bounty of our planet, and for new initiatives about how forge a better, more sustainable future. This development has created new avenues for interdisciplinary research and study, created new opportunities for constructive social networking, and opened up new career paths in the realms of art, science, and business.

Sustainability has many facets that go well beyond environmental activism: it embodies, incorporates, and engenders everything from intellectual growth and social responsibility, to emotional maturity and physical wellbeing. And, while "going green," as it's often called, involves some effort, it also can also translate into better food options at the dining hall, nicer dorms, and more meaningful ways of engaging with other members of the college community.
